RECORDING ARTS DEGREE with honors 2006. MDX London Work and research in multi-micro techniques. Final project, "Music, technology and freedom".
Bernardo Faustino López is a producer, sound engineer, and naturalist dedicated to preserving humanity’s cultural heritage through immersive technology and art. With a Recording Arts Degree from Middlesex University, where his final project explored “Music, Technology, and Freedom,” he has built a career spanning over 600 recordings, blending cultural consciousness with innovative techniques like 3D audio and virtual reality.
His flagship project, Concert Evolution, is a documentary that captures a 40,000-year musical legacy, recording ancient traditions in spatial audio (Ambisonics, Dolby Atmos) across Australia, Indonesia, Turkey, and Spain. Collaborating with artists like Erkan Oğur, Jorge Pardo, and institutions such as Charles Darwin, Bernardo bridges past and present through immersive sound and VR experiences. His production Neønymus, recorded in 3D at the Monasterio de Silos—unique in its history alongside Gregorian chants—achieved number one in digital sales twice. Similarly, El Testigo marked a milestone as the first flamenco album recorded in 3D.
Using harmonic aligned information techniques and the ambisonics DPA4 microphone, Bernardo delivers a laboratory-grade measurement system capable of producing audio files with unparalleled realism and 3D spatial information. This approach ensures the highest standards of fidelity, compatible with all possible formats, enhancing the immersive quality of his recordings for projects like Concert Evolution and Neønymus.
As Berninae, Bernardo creates kinetic sculptures and digital art inspired by nature, often integrating virtual reality to enhance cultural storytelling. Guided by ethical principles, he avoids violent or discriminatory content, focusing on projects that celebrate culture, nature, and innovation. His work as a naturalist, including collaborations with figures like Allan Savory and contributions to campaigns like Uluru, reflects a deep commitment to environmental and cultural preservation. "The journey of songs in search of health"
Currently I drive the project "Concert Evolution," a documentary with musical and historical nature. Music and songs through time and the relationship between human beings and music.
A collaboration with institutions and universities that travels to the oldest legacy of the human being and our songs. These are the sound recordings in 3D with some of the oldest songs from our cultures. A very special interview with the relevant researcher Muazzez İlmiye Çığ.
The oldest memories of humanity are songs, some of which are over 40,000 years old, and belong to the living cultural lines of the Aboriginal First Nations in Australia. In addition, almost all of us know a song that is about 300 million years old and that the dinosaurs still sing every day. Many doors are still knocking with that song… For almost 10 years I was making the first recordings in three dimensions, spatial information, of the repertoire belonging to the longest living cultural lines on the planet. All these recordings were made in collaboration with Universities, Institutions and different organizations to which the material was given. Part of these recordings have been published in the public domain in the documentary of the project “Concert Evolution - The journey of songs in search of health” that you can enjoy in 3 dimensions on the Internet Archives and in spatial format on compatible platforms such as Apple Music and TIDAL. The recordings were made with a scientific sound sampling system manufactured by the DPA Microphones - Bruel & Kjaer Sound & Vibration Measurement A/S laboratories. As an anecdote, the paintings are simply the graphic support for the song that is still played in living rituals passed down through generations and that in many cases are about to disappear. Too often we travel far into space, but we do not ask or dedicate enough time to the people we encounter.

Pablo Báez "El Testigo" First 3D recording of flamenco music. Trip through different musical scenarios, flamenco, jazz, tradition, and protest across a forest, an abandoned prison, the beach, a theater and a church. Perhaps the first flamenco project recorded in 3D. It was published in Stereo and Binaural since Dolby Atmos did not exist at the time and the owner has not reissued it. Recorded with ambisonics.
